It looks like popular hip-hop star Fetty Wap is the latest celebrity that’s jumped on the BMW i8 bandwagon as the “My Way” crooner recently shared a picture on Instagram, which shows him and his son standing next to the exotic hybrid sports car.
Wap, real name Willie Maxwell II, is already known to own a BMW X5, BMW M6, and Mercedes-AMG C63, so the i8 coupe fits nicely into his collection of exotic European luxury cars.
The 2016 BMW i8 comes with a gasoline-powered turbo engine as well as an electric motor that’s powered by a lithium-ion battery pack. All together, this hybrid system provides up to 357 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. When you combine that power with a curb weight of less than 3,500 pounds, it comes as no surprise that the BMW i8 can reach a top speed of 155 mph and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 4.2 seconds.
What makes the BMW i8 even more unique is that a Level 2 charging station can power the car’s battery in just two and a half hours. This allows the BMW i8 to achieve EPA-estimated fuel efficiency of 76 MPGe, while also boasting a total driving range of 330 miles. It goes without saying that with that type of fuel economy, Mr. Wap won’t be required to stop often at any gas stations.
It’s good to see the rapper has seemingly recovered from injuries that he suffered a year ago when a car collided with the motorcycle he was riding. Also, in case you were wondering, the new BMW i8 coupe carries a starting MSRP of $140,700, so it’s safe to assume Fetty Wap’s bank account isn’t hurting either.
