Welcome to In the Rearview, where we bring you some of the top automotive news of the past week.
First up, we had three car reveals. The first two were the work of spy photographers, which snapped pictures of what we presume to be the upcoming mid-engine Corvette (since it is pictured running around with other Corvette prototypes), and pictures of the returned Toyota Supra (maybe–it could just as easily be a not-yet-revealed BMW Z5). The third was a reveal of more details on the upcoming Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, which will apparently decide friends are for losers and throw out all of the seats but the drivers’.
Then, in motorsport news, we knew that Formula 1’s racecars would soon be getting a major overhaul, and now we have the details of just what that overhaul entails.
In New York, meanwhile, the New York Taxi Workers’ Alliance staged a one-hour protest of President Trump’s immigration-banning executive order. Of course, things then took a bad turn as Uber stepped in.
Then, we have yet another product review, this time of the social deduction game Traitor Mechanic: the Traitor Mechanic Game. Try not to say something about someone throwing a wrench into things.
In odd crime news, one man has decided that he would attempt to explain away a speeding ticket by saying that the police officer didn’t clock his car–he clocked a deer that was running by. We have the details, as well as an answer to the question, can deer even run that fast?
Finally, it’s time to talk about low gas prices, because according to GasBuddy.com’s senior analyst, they are about to go poof. Basically, he gives us until Valentine’s Day.
