BMW has announced that more than one million BMW cars and Sports Activity Vehicles in the United States now have an active subscription to its award-winning BMW Assist telematics service.
It originally launched in 1997 and began including a four-year subscription in 2007. Today, BMW Assist eCall and TeleService come as standard equipment with 10 years of service in nearly all 2014 model year and later BMWs.

BMW Assist is a potentially life-saving tool that BMW has developed for nearly two decades. One key feature is Automatic Collision Detection, which uses a unique “urgency algorithm” to determine the likelihood of severe injury, vehicle location, and other key information in the event of a crash. This helps first responders to be better prepared when they arrive on the scene and saves time when it is the most needed.
In addition to eCall and TeleService, which have helped it earn the “Best Telematics Safety & Security Solution” award at the 2013 Telematics Update Detroit conference, BMW Assist offers various other utilities. For example, Remote Services can be used to remotely unlock the car via a quick call to BMW staff when your keys are locked inside, and Stolen Vehicle Recovery helps locate the vehicle for the police to recover it.
No wonder more than a million people are subscribed!
