In August, BMW gave us a look at the BMW Concept M4 GTS at Monterey Car Week, and we were told that the production 2016 BMW M4 GTS would make an appearance at the Los Angeles Auto Show late next month. According to reports, it looks as if the car might have snuck in with BMW to the Tokyo Motor Show this week.
Only 700 2016 BMW M4 GTS vehicles will be built, and 300 are said to be bound for the United States. Having a special production vehicle hit American shores is a first for this particular German automaker. The GTS will also be the first road car built with a water injection system. Water injection systems help to cool the engine when operating at peak performance to prevent malfunctions and increase power output.
While the BMW M4 GTS is completely road legal, it was built with a track in mind. While photos of the car shows it as grey, upon closer inspection you can see yellow highlights throughout the car that really make the design pop.
According to AutoBlog, the BMW M4 GTS is practically hidden in the BMW booth. If you’re looking for it at the show, it’s in the back of the BMW stand behind a wall. I can’t wait to hear more about this vehicle when it makes its North American debut in LA.
